Home Water Filtration Systems, Remove Bad Odor, Taste, And Dangerous Chemicals Like Chlorine And Flu

!±8± Home Water Filtration Systems, Remove Bad Odor, Taste, And Dangerous Chemicals Like Chlorine And Flu

I've looked at and studied many home water filtration systems.  While no system is perfect there are systems that have been engineered for high levels of filtration (8 to 15 stages) and performance with low maintenance and at a surprisingly low cost.

Protect Yourself And Your Family From Contaminated Water

Water Filtration Means Water Safety Many people are concerned over water safety, particularly drinking water safety.  Sometimes the concern is due to a sulfur smell or taste but you may have a real concern because of chlorine and fluoride in your water particularly with infants in the home.   If you are concerned and want to remove the bad odors and taste from your water then you are in the right place.  Others would also have concerns about the chlorine and other chemicals in their shower or bath water we will also discuss this. Home water filtration systems can accomplish removing all of this in one central unit for the whole house or you may choose separate filtering for your drinking water and showers.

Drinking water filters attach to the tap or can be mounted under the counter.  A separate shower or bath water filter can be used for bathing water. The chemicals and minerals in the water also make soaps and shampoo less effective and even leave a film on your skin, your clothes, and your dishes.  A simple water softener can take care of many of these cleaning issues yet a whole home water filtration system might be the best choice because they also make your water healthier.

Water Filter Basics The most common drinking water filters are carbon filters, UV filters, reverse osmosis filters, and ceramic filters.  All clean your water of particulate matter and microorganisms.  Microorganisms are of particular concern when considering a well water in line filter. As you will see there is a great variance in exactly what these different types of filters do.  There are four basic types of filter used singly or together in home water filtration systems,

Carbon filters usually screw on to the tap.  Water is cleaned by passing it through layers of activated charcoal.  The impurities stick to the carbon and clean water passes out.   Brita and resin based water filters use powdered carbon bound with a resin into small blocks that provide even higher filtration than activated charcoal. Ceramic filters work the same way but use silicon diatomaceous earth instead of carbon.  These passive filters provide a lower level of filtration than other types and the filters need to be changed at regular intervals because they lose ability to clean over time. UV Water filters uses focused ultraviolet light to kill microorganisms and other biological impurities in the water.  These filters don't remove the particulate matter.  When used in home systems UV filters are usually part of a system that uses other processes to remove the debris. Reverse osmosis water filters provide the highest level of purification of your water.  Usually there is an activated carbon filter combined with a UV filter although other filtering is sometimes used.  These systems can even remove salt from sea water.  These filters ensure that your drinking water is as pure as possible.
Filters For Shower And Bath: Shower and bath filters are becoming popular.  In many places, our water is over-chlorinated.  Chlorinated water, like "hard water," makes your shampoos and soaps less effective, when you remove the chlorine you will probably find that you use less soap and shampoo. Perhaps the biggest trouble with chlorine is a health issue.  The chlorine vaporizes with the steam in your shower and irritates the lungs.  Shower filters that attach at the shower head can filter out chlorine and other impurities and removes these unhealthy vapors.  These filters typically are metallic because the carbon doesn't work well with hot water.

Home Water Filtration Systems: The best home water filtration systems give you the whole shooten' match.  These systems attach where water comes into the house and the water passes through multiple filters to remove all sediment, chemicals, bacteria, and contaminants before they enter your home.   All of the water that your family uses is filtered, pure, and healthy. Rest easy knowing that chlorine and fluoride water filters are working along with filtering for bacteria, mercury, lead, and arsenic along with 500 or more other dangerous contaminants.

A Guide to Shower Filters For Hard Water

!±8± A Guide to Shower Filters For Hard Water

You may want shower filters for hard water, but you also want to remove hazardous chemicals that vaporize during a hot bath. In the enclosed area of the bathroom, we inhale these chemicals and scientists believe that increases our risk of cancer.

You also want to remove chlorine, if it's present. Chlorine also vaporizes and inhalation is irritating to the sinuses, as well as the entire respiratory system. The chemical vapors are known to trigger asthma attacks. That's one reason that indoor swimming pools are closed if chlorine levels climb too high.

The best shower filters for hard water combine ion exchange to balance mineral content and soften. This step also removes traces of metals like lead and copper that seep in from the pipes. Metallic traces dull the hair and exposure to lead is never safe.

Granulated carbon will remove chlorine and some of the other chemicals, but a process called adsorption is needed to remove as many chemicals as possible. Specifically, it removes chlorination byproducts. Those are the ones that cause cancer.

The prices of shower filters for hard water vary greatly. Believe me. You don't need the most expensive product on the market to get the best performance.

Some people recommend reverse osmosis. That's an expensive and largely unnecessary step, even for drinking water filtration. It also creates gallons of wastewater and there are no units specifically designed for your showerhead. You'd have to get one for the whole house.

Whole house filters are sometimes a good idea, but generally speaking, your showerheads and your kitchen faucets are most important. There's no particular reason to filter the waters for the toilet or even the laundry. You can always add water softeners to the laundry.

Some people recommend a brand called Wellness. There's no real reason to go to that expense, either. They make some scientific claims that they can't back up with hard evidence. There biggest claim to fame is that they are supposedly used in the number one health spa in the world, but I couldn't verify that, either.

The best shower filters for hard water have been evaluated and rated by Consumer Reports. The company provides certified product performance data before you buy. The cost of use is pennies a day and the replacement filter lasts a full six months.

In case you have a hard time remembering when it's time to change your filter, the company offers automatic shipment and discounts for signing up. There are many ways to save money. Buying direct from the factory is one easy way.

You want a product that is easy to install and unlikely to leak, simply to avoid frustration. If you're tall, you also want one that does not reduce the height of the showerhead.

The right shower filters for hard water will protect your health, as well as prevent that scaly build up on your bathroom fixtures. Just be sure to shop carefully, so that you don't end up disappointed.

Smoke Buddy

This song is done by Bob Marley, Jamaica Rum. I do Not own this song. Just spreading Peace & Pot. The smoke buddy works great. You don't have to use a whole box of fabric softener in a toilet paper roll anymore just to cover up the smell. Just buy a smoke buddy from ebay or at www.smokebuddy.com They're worth the money to spend on if you don't want anyone to find out you were smoking indoors.

How to Find an Environmentally and Pet Safe Ice Melt Product

!±8± How to Find an Environmentally and Pet Safe Ice Melt Product

Living in the Northern part of the US or any part of Canada brings with it the inevitable change of seasons.

There's a lot of really great things about it from beautiful spring mornings, cool fall evenings when a campfire, and all the fall smells are welcome. In between you get the varying temperatures in the summer with fishing, hiking, all kinds of other outdoor activities, and in Minnesota where I currently live, mosquitoes the size of World War II aircraft. The other inevitability would be winter. Winter for many is a time of different indoor, and outdoor sports activities from basketball and hockey, to skiing, snowboarding, hunting, and Mall walking. Is that actually a sport? So much for the fun stuff.

In between the weekends when we can get out and have fun with winter sports we all have to do with the time in between, otherwise known as the work week.

That's the fun time when you have to be up in what seems to be the middle of the night. After all, you have to get the kids ready for school, get ready for work, and once it's light outside, look out to discover that there was a foot of snow over night. It's a beautiful sight if you could only stay inside, but you can't. So now it's time to get out and clear the driveway so you can get out and get to work. That's assuming the car will start since it's now below zero.

So you get the sidewalk, and the driveway cleared, and try to get the dog to go outside. Good luck. He doesn't like the cold. So you've got the kids on the bus, and are all sweated up from shoveling snow, so you try to get quick shower before leaving for work. You've managed to get all of that done. You pull the car out of the garage, and bolt out the door toward the car. All of a sudden, your feet leave the ground. They are now passing your eyes in an upward motion. And just as soon as that happens your shoulders hit the pavement, followed by your head, and finally your feet. It's not a good day.

All kinds of thoughts rush through your mind. Where's the phone number for my chiropractor? Are my parents the "snowbirds" having a good time in Arizona this morning? And finally. Why didn't I buy some ice melt when I was at the store last weekend. Yes, it's a necessary evil. And by the way, if you are wondering by now why the previous few paragraphs were so graphic, guess why? As they say "Been there, done that." Way to many times.

So now we get to the real reason for this article. Ice melt. Yah, it melts ice. Sometimes. It thaws a little, then refreezes. Not all of it. Some of the chunks are so big that you could twist your ankle from stepping on one. So you put more down on the bare spots, and repeat until spring. Within a few days however, your sidewalk is white from the salt dissolving. As a matter of fact, so is your tile inside the house, and the hardwood floor, and the carpet, because unknowingly everybody has been tracking it in. Including the dog. Dogs don't like salt on their feet. So guess what? They lick the salt off. And, within a very short time they are getting sick from the salt. Isn't winter fun?

What would you say if I told you that there was a none salt product that is safe for pets? What if the same product would stay on your sidewalk longer melting the ice, and allowing the air to dry it up?

What if the same product would not kill your lawn, or your shrubs which inevitably get covered with snow from the driveway, by way of the new snow blower that you had to buy, due to your back injury. And, what if this same product did not track salt onto your tile, hardwood, or carpet? Well guess what?

There is an all natural stone product that is found in some western states. It can very easily be ground to about the size of a BB. Due to it's size it covers much more area, and works longer than typical rock salt or salt/sand mix. It has a slightly reddish tint so you can see where you are spreading it. And best of all, it melts ice and snow. Even below zero. And now it's available for commercial, industrial, public or residential use.
